Video Game Addiction Treatment
Internet & Video Game Addiction Treatment
Recently recognized by the World Health Organization as an addictive disorder, video game addiction can be destructive both by itself and with concurrent mental health disorders.
Individuals who are addicted to gaming frequently encounter declining relationships, lack of sleep, mental health issues, and in certain cases, may develop problems with substance abuse or addiction.
How Video Game Addiction Differs From Casual Gaming
Video game addiction differs from casual gaming. Casual gaming involves moderate play without adverse effects, while addiction means excessive gaming that disrupts daily life, relationships, and well-being. The key difference lies in control: casual gaming is manageable, whereas addiction leads to loss of control and negative social, financial, relational and emotional consequences.
